Best Halloween Costumes for You and Your Bicycle – Top 5

Did last week’s costume teaser get you in the mood for Halloween? Have I convinced you that you should incorporate your bicycle into your Halloween costume this year? If not, maybe this next set will. Here are my top 5 recommended Halloween costumes (inspired by Hollywood) for you and your bike.

#5 Kermit and Miss Piggy Go for a Ride

The Look

Who cares if they are more than a little dysfunctional? Kermit and Miss Piggy make the ultimate couple’s Halloween costume. Find outfits inspired by their countryside bike ride, track down a tandem bicycle, and ride together!

#4 Dr Strangelove: Major Kong’s Bomb Ride

The Look

Inspired by this photo of a rocket bicycle, be your own US Air Force cowboy with jumpsuit, bomber jacket, boots, code book, and of course a hat to wave while riding your bomb in true cinematic style.

#3 Miss Gulch from The Wizard of Oz (aka Wicked Witch of the West)

The Look

Recreate one of the great movie villains of all times with a high-crowned hat, long prairie dress, gloves, and granny boots. The picnic basket and Toto stand in are must haves.

#2: Pee Wee’s Big Adventure

The Look

If you already have a red vintage cruiser bike, you’re halfway there with this costume. It will take a little more work than the others, but the payoff is big. Pull together a gray suit, red bow tie, and white loafers then add some bicycle bling. It turns out Pee Wee’s original big cat speaker is pretty hard to come by, but thankfully other options like this tiger horn are out there.

#1: ET and Elliot’s Ride in the Sky

The Look

If you saw ET as a kid, you know you wanted to be Elliot flying over the cops and in front of the moon. Now you can be! Find a red hooded sweatshirt, old milk crate, and creature for underneath your white blanket, and you’ll be well on your way to having a costume inspired by the best bicycle movie scene (ever!).

So what do you think? Are you going to make your bike part of your Halloween costume this year? For more inspiration or if you just want to watch more movie clips, check out these lists from Treehugger and Complex.
